Benfica’s pursuit of Stepán Chaloupek faces a hurdle, with the Slavia Prague centre-back prioritising a move to England.
According to iSport, the 23-year-old favours Ipswich Town or Hull City and is minded towards the Premier League.
Rui Costa is preparing an offer in the region of €12m to persuade Slavia Prague to negotiate.
Despite the push, Benfica are keeping alternatives open and want to conclude a centre-back deal quickly, given the imminent departure of António Silva in this summer window.
Chaloupek is coming off a standout campaign, a key figure in Slavia’s title win with eight goals and two assists in 28 league games, which earned him a call-up to the 2026 World Cup. He featured once, against South Korea.
Strong relations between the clubs could aid talks, with Alexander Bah and David Jurásek both having joined Benfica from Slavia, although Jurásek returned to Prague in January.
