Benin national team coach Gernot Rohr has set his target with the Cheetahs for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

For this CAN 2025, the objective is clear for Rohr: go as far as possible. The Cheetahs' best performance remains their run to the Round of 16 in 2019. Despite an impressive World Cup qualifying campaign, Benin continues to play the underdog role.

"Being an outsider simply means you’re not among the top-ranked nations yet. That doesn’t bother me at all. The FIFA ranking reflects past results, and we’re working to improve through consistency. Smaller nations sometimes have to fight harder for recognition, but that’s part of the journey. Thanks to our qualification for the CAN and a strong World Cup campaign, Benin is earning respect on the African stage. Our first goal is to win a match, and we want to get through the group stage," the coach explained.
