Benjamin Stambouli has sustained a rib fracture and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks, according to L'Équipe. The injury came in Metz's 0-0 draw with Lille on Friday.

The 35-year-old was hurt in a duel with Alexsandro in the 66th minute, then made way for Gauthier Hein at 70. Recently restored to the side by head coach Benoît Tavenot, he had been earmarked for an important role in the run-in.

Although Tavenot sounded relatively reassuring that evening, the pain persisted over the weekend. Stambouli has not returned to full training this week as Metz prepare to host Auxerre on Sunday at 17:15.

The club have not yet communicated the precise nature of the injury or any timetable. He will also miss the trip to the Parc des Princes to face former club PSG on Saturday 21 February.

Stambouli joined Metz in September 2024 and has featured in 14 Ligue 1 matches this season.
