Nicolas Gonzalez risks having a season without a club to play for after telling Juventus that he does not want to play for them again, although he could move to Besiktas in Turkiye.
Gonzalez played on loan at Atletico Madrid last season, and the Spanish side were interested in making the move permanent. However, they offered a fee that was too low for Juventus to accept, leaving the Bianconeri unwilling to sanction the transfer without a higher offer.
Juventus told Atletico Madrid to pay more, but the Spanish club have preferred not to do so. Meanwhile, Gonzalez has reportedly told Luciano Spalletti that he does not wish to work with the manager, creating further uncertainty over his future in Turin.
Spalletti would have found space for Gonzalez to receive another opportunity at Juventus, but the attacker has decided on his preferred path. Atletico Madrid have also gone quiet regarding their interest in signing him, leaving the player without a clear route away from the Italian club.
Inter Milan were interested in Gonzalez, but they have not made a formal approach either. According to Calciomercato, the latest club to show interest in a move for him is Besiktas, who could provide him with an opportunity to continue his career elsewhere.
Vincenzo Italiano worked with Gonzalez at Fiorentina, and the manager could give him the chance to play regularly this season. As a result, the Turkish side has emerged as his main suitor as Juventus look for a solution to the situation.
However, Gonzalez might prefer to remain in one of Europe’s top competitions, meaning he could also turn down Besiktas. Such a decision could leave him in a difficult position unless he is confident that another major European club is seriously interested in signing him.
The attacker therefore faces an important decision over his next move. Returning to Juventus does not appear to be his preferred option, while Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan have not progressed with their interest. Besiktas currently offer a potential escape, but Gonzalez must decide whether regular football in Turkiye is preferable to waiting for another opportunity in a top European competition.
With his future still unresolved, Gonzalez risks losing valuable playing time if no suitable move materialises. Juventus will also need to find a solution, particularly if the player remains unwilling to work under Spalletti.
