Vincenzo Italiano has quickly become a cult figure at Besiktas. The club marked the 4-1 Europa League win against Olympique Marseille with a playful tribute, playing Toto Cutugno’s ‘L’Italiano’ at full-time.
According to Football Italia, supporters chanted his name throughout as the 48-year-old patrolled the touchline, with clips spreading widely on social media.
The result coincided with Italiano’s Europa League debut in charge of the Turkish side.
His start has been outstanding, delivering 10 victories from his first 12 matches at the helm.
Previously of Trapani, Spezia, Fiorentina and Bologna, he joined Besiktas last summer after a two-year stint with the Rossoblu. At the Dall’Ara he won the 2024-25 Coppa Italia, ending Bologna’s 51-year wait for a major domestic trophy.
