According to La Colina De Nervion, Real Betis' interest in River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltrán could steer the Argentines towards former Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, known as Bono.
River hope to retain the 21-year-old, yet attention from Europe, including Betis, complicates the picture. The competition for Beltrán includes Atlético de Madrid, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Benfica.
River are said to have held initial talks with Bono, viewed as the club's chosen replacement should Beltrán leave. The approach follows growing doubts over keeping their prospect as offers arrive from Europe.
Bono guarded Sevilla's goal from 2019 to 2023, first on loan from Girona then permanently, before moving to Al-Hilal. He was central to two Europa League wins.
He claimed the Zamora Trophy in 2021-22, becoming Sevilla's first goalkeeper to do so. In 2023 he was player of the match in the Europa League final against AS Roma after saving two penalties in the shootout.
A Wydad Casablanca graduate, he later played for Atlético Madrid, Real Zaragoza and Girona, and helped Morocco reach the 2022 World Cup semi-finals. He has been at Al-Hilal since August 2023 and is under contract until 2028, with Sevilla monitoring any domino effect from River's plans.
