River Plate are assessing a move for Al-Hilal goalkeeper Yassine Bounou in the next transfer window as they brace for the departure of young goalkeeper Santiago Beltran.

According to Goal.com, the Morocco international is regarded as the club’s only target to replace Beltran, and the hierarchy have already sounded out his camp to gauge his position and the scope for talks in the coming period.

Their interest stems from his extensive international experience and his longstanding affection for the club, having previously indicated he would like to play for River one day.

After the World Cup, Bounou said any move would not depend on him and that, if an opportunity arose at some point, it would be a good thing.

Any transfer would hinge on Al-Hilal. Bounou is under contract in Riyadh until mid 2028, so his departure would depend on the Saudi club’s stance and subsequent negotiations.

For now, River consider him their solitary option if Beltran leaves, with plans centred on reinforcing the position.
