‘Bid Last Night’ – Celtic Tried Again For Star | OneFootball

Celtic made a ‘bid last night’ for Gvidas Gineitis, but it has been rejected by Torino, and only a sensational last-minute offer could take him out of Italy.

The Bhoys want to add more depth to their engine room and are on course to sign Oliver Sorensen and Joel van den Berg to provide extra options in that area.

Celtic though clearly are huge admirers of Lithuania international Gineitis and have been on his trail all summer, with an offer rejected early in the window.

Martin O’Neill’s men have still been trying for the Torino midfielder, with talk of another bid which was too low.

The 22-year-old is an established member of Torino’s starting eleven, and this term has already made three appearances for the club, while also providing an assist.

Where Celtic are in terms of bids for the midfielder is unclear, but according to Italian outlet Toro Goal, they ‘bid last night’ for Gineitis once again.

For Torino, the bid was just too low though and not at the level they want in order to cash in on the player.

It is unclear how much Torino want to part ways with Gineitis, but earlier in the window it was suggested that a fee around €10m could suffice.

Given the late stage of the window, it is now incredibly likely that the midfielder stays put at Torino.

Gineitis still has three years remaining on his current deal with Torino and it seems the Italian side are in no hurry to sell the midfielder.

They have already brought in cash from other avenues, not least with Alieu Njie’s move to Fiorentina.

Celtic are sure to continue to track the midfielder and could potentially rekindle their interest in the January transfer window.

By that time, the Bhoys could have qualified for the knockout rounds of the Europa League and had a cash boost from doing so.
