Liverpool are still the talk of the town.

Indeed, most fans expected a lot more change to occur at Anfield than there has but, from the additions they've made so far and the one they're about to make, it feels like things are heading in the right direction.

Until recently, only Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet were brought in but, by the end of next week at the latest, Ronald Aruajo will have also been signed.

Each of these players will help Liverpool plug their gaps and some could even become season-changing additions.

However, even though all of these moves are solid, there's clearly still a lot more change needed before Liverpool are ready to compete again.

And now, they seem to have been given the chance to get a deal over the line for a rather exciting player.

Ibrahim Mbaye is 'keen' on joining Liverpool

As mentioned, the rumour mill surrounding Liverpool's future transfers has gone into overdrive.

Every other day a new player is linked with the Anfield outfit and, even though fans shouldn't get too excited, they always end up getting invested in whoever is linked.

Of course, some transfers seem to be more advanced than others at the moment but, Liverpool's move for Ibrahim Mbaye has recently gained some traction.

The Senegal international is likely to drop rather far down Paris Saint-Germain's pecking order now that Maghnes Akliouche has been signed.

And, the fact that Ferran Torres could also be about to join them means that he could end up with even less game time in the future.

So, it's hardly surprising to find out that PSG want to move him on.

Many clubs have are interested in signing the 18-year-old but, as per a fresh update from Football Insider, Mbaye seems to have chosen Liverpool as his next destination.

"Ibrahim Mbaye is keen to join Liverpool this summer despite the growing interest from rival clubs, sources have told Football Insider," they wrote.

"After Andoni Iraola's side made their interest public, the 18-year-old is believed to have had his head turned by the possbility of making the move to Anfield.

"That is despite interest from Bayer Leverkusen, who are pushing to agree terms with Paris Saint-Germain, but could now hit a stumbling block in their pursuit.

"As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Mbaye now has his eyes set on a move to the Premier League with Liverpool.

"The Reds have been keen to bolster their wide options this summer, and after being made aware of the teenager's availability, are now preparing an attempt to bring him in.

"PSG, meanwhile, are believed to be open to his departure as a result of the depth of attacking options at their disposal, with concerns about his long-term role in the side."

Ibrahim Mbaye would help solve one of Liverpool's main problems

One of Liverpool's main problems this season is going to be figuring out where to get the goals that Mohamed Salah contributed to from.

The Egyptian King has been at the centre of Liverpool's attack since 2017 with the attacker being one of the Reds' main goalscorers.

Of course, other players could potentially step up to the plate but, after their performances last term, it's unclear whether they'll be able to do that.

That's where Mbaye comes in. The Senegal international may only be 18 years old but, since he's a natural right-winger and has already played an important role for PSG and his country during the 2025-26 season, he could easily be ready to make the step up.

Of course, he probably won't contribute to 22 goals during his first season but, if he can get at least half of that and all of their other attackers can pick up the slack, Liverpool will be well on their way to replacing him.

No matter how hard they try, they'll never find another player like Salah so, if multiple players can fill the void, that is definitely their best plan of action.

Here's hoping that the deal works out and Liverpool sign the "phenomenon."
