Bill recalls meeting Ronaldo at Corinthians ahead of Coritiba meeting | OneFootball

Corinthians visit Coritiba on Sunday at 19:30 at Estádio Couto Pereira in round 24 of the Campeonato Brasileiro. On the eve of the game, former striker Bill, who played for both clubs, revisited his first meeting with Ronaldo during his Corinthians spell.

"I went up to Ronaldo and kept staring at him. He asked, 'why are you looking at me?'. I said, 'sorry, Ronaldo, I used to collect your stickers and today I am playing here with you'. He replied, 'this is Corinthians'," he told ge.globo.

Bill joined Corinthians in 2009 after impressing at Red Bull Bragantino. He stepped into a squad packed with big names and lined up alongside one of his idols. Ronaldo, unveiled at the end of 2008, helped deliver the 2009 Paulista and Copa do Brasil, finishing that year with 23 goals and five assists.

Bill did not feature in the 2009 Copa do Brasil, though he was in the title-winning group. That season he made 12 appearances and scored two goals, both in the league. Across his Corinthians stint he played 18 times, starting five, with two goals and one assist, a record of four wins, nine draws and five defeats, and a 38.9% points return, plus an average fan rating of 5.07 from 601 votes.

With few starts at Corinthians, he was loaned to Coritiba at the start of 2010 and returned to Parque São Jorge in 2012 after two seasons with the Paraná club. "To be honest I wanted to stay at Coxa, given the run we were on. But, thank God, I returned to Corinthians and made my history."
