FLW brings you all the latest news from St Andrew’s.
Birmingham City continue to ramp up their summer transfer window business ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.
Blues are looking to build a squad good enough to compete back in the second tier after smashing the record League One points tally and resoundingly lifting the third-tier title.
So far this summer, Blues have been backed by Tom Wagner, recruiting nine new faces to the West Midlands.
James Beadle, Tommy Doyle, Phil Neumann, Demarai Gray, Kanya Fujimoto, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Kyogo Furuhashi have all entered the building, while Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Alfons Sampsted have turned their loan moves into permanent stays.
With business still expected to be busy in the Second City, FLW takes you through all the latest news surrounding Birmingham City.
As exclusively revealed by Football League World, Huddersfield Town are set to complete their tenth signing of the summer transfer window after agreeing a £1.2 million deal with Birmingham City for forward Alfie May.
The Blues striker is now expected to undergo a medical in West Yorkshire today as he finalises a move.
May snubbed Huddersfield in favour of a move to Birmingham from Charlton Athletic this time last year, with the forward admitting that he was "very close" to linking up at the John Smith’s Stadium.
May registered 17 goals and nine assists from 57 appearances across all competitions in his debut campaign at St Andrew’s, although just 27 of his 44 league outings were starts as he was often used in a rotation role.
The League One marksman will be hoping that he can deliver enough ammunition at the top end of the pitch for the Terriers as they chase a return to the Championship at the second time of asking.
With Alfie May set to depart, there will be a vacant spot for a forward addition, and Birmingham City have been credited with an interest in veteran striker Jamie Vardy, who remains without a club since his exit from Leicester City.
As per Football Insider, Blues are keen on bolstering their frontline with the former Fleetwood Town man, who left an incredible 13-year career behind with the Foxes following their relegation back down to the Championship.
It’s unclear whether Blues will be able to lure Vardy to the West Midlands at this stage, with the 38-year-old previously stating his desire to remain a Premier League player.
Birmingham are also set to face stiff competition for his signature, with the likes of Crystal Palace, Rangers, Valencia and Wolves all linked with the frontman over the course of the transfer window.
Birmingham City will have to pay £10 million to lure striker Mateo Joseph away from Leeds United this summer.
According to a fresh update from Alan Nixon via Patreon on Sunday, Leeds are willing to part ways with Joseph, with the forward’s game time set to dip as they make a return to the Premier League.
Interest in the Spaniard is rife this summer, as Blues face strong competition from La Liga outfits, Real Betis and Celta Vigo, for his signature.
It’s yet to be revealed whether Blues will push the boat out and spend such a sizeable amount on another forward, particularly given they paid the same fee for former Celtic man Kyogo Furuhashi.
Joseph featured 39 times last season for Leeds in their promotion-winning season, scoring three times as well as providing four assists.
Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has confirmed forward Jay Stansfield missed both of Birmingham City's friendlies last weekend because of a “niggle”.
The striker featured for 45 minutes in their pre-season match with Sevilla, but wasn’t involved against either Crewe or Burton Albion, raising concerns over his fitness so close to the 2025-26 season opener.
But Davies confirmed Stansfield, along with Ethan Laird and Lyndon Dykes, stayed behind to build up their fitness as pre-season action ramps up.
As reported by Birmingham Live, Davies said: “They're just back at the training ground, they've been trained and some have had injuries at different times, but they're all they're OK.
