The 20-year-old has made 17 appearances in League One so far this season, with the Terriers chasing promotion to the Championship.

This is the Yorkshire outfit’s second campaign in the third tier after their relegation in 2024, and they’re looking to improve on their underwhelming 10th place finish in 2025.

Ashia has contributed three goals and three assists for the club this term, with Liam Manning’s side firmly in the mix for a top six finish.

The 40-year-old took charge of Huddersfield in January following the departure of Lee Grant.

The former Norwich City boss has been tasked with ensuring the team secures a top six finish this season, which could be key to Ashia’s long-term future with the League One side.

It has been reported by Football FanCast that Birmingham City, Stoke City and QPR are all tracking Ashia’s progress ahead of the summer transfer window.

It’s believed that all three clubs are interested in the player following his promising performances this season.

The forward has only started twice in the league, but his contributions from the bench have seen him play a key role in Huddersfield’s top six battle.

This has led to the 20-year-old attracting interest from the Championship, as he approaches the end of his contract with the Terriers.

It has also been claimed that Rangers and Hearts are keen on the player, further fuelling speculation over his future.

Ashia joined Huddersfield in 2024 following their relegation to League One, having come through the academy system at Derby County.

This has been a breakout campaign for the youngster, who also had a brief spell on loan with non-league side Torquay United last season.

The youngster continued his impressive run of form with an assist in the team’s 2-1 win over Barnsley last weekend, which maintained the Terriers’ position inside the play-off places.

Huddersfield are sixth in the League One table, four points clear of seventh place Reading, albeit having played a game more than most of their rivals.

Next up for Manning’s side is a trip to face relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic on 28 February in a 3pm kick-off, with the Yorkshire outfit seeking a second win in a row to bolster their play-off hopes.

Cameron Ashia departure will be inevitable without promotion

It’s been claimed that Huddersfield are resigned to losing Ashia if they are unable to secure promotion, and that only adds to the importance of a strong end to the season for Manning’s side.

Ashia hasn’t been given many opportunities to show what he can do from the start, but his impact off the bench is proving quite important right now.

Given he is still only 20, he still has room to improve and grow as a player, so it’s no surprise that he’s attracting this level of interest.

Maybe a guarantee of even more regular playing time, and a starting berth next season, could help convince the youngster to stay, but nothing will compare to being able to offer Championship football.
