Birmingham City have unveiled plans for a new 62,000 seater stadium with a unique design reflecting the city's industrial history.

The club showed off the plans for the stadium as a part of an event to celebrate 150 years of its history.

"This is a huge milestone for Birmingham City Football Club, creating a home for the club that reflects our ambition to compete at the highest level," said the club chairman, Tom Wagner.

"More than that, the iconic design is a statement of intent for the City of Birmingham and the West Midlands, testament to a region that is on the rise.

"The stadium draws upon the proud heritage of the West Midlands – a heritage of industry, ingenuity and growth. I believe those same qualities can create a new era of success on and off the field and prosperity for local communities that have been starved of opportunities for too long."

As with many new stadium designs, there is emphasis on social spaces around the ground that will also house cafes and restaurants. Currently, the plan is to complete the stadium and have it ready for the 2030/31 season.

Birmingham City will be hoping they can return to the top flight before they move into their new stadium with the Blues currently 11th in the Championship after having won League One at a canter last year.
