Birmingham City host Norwich City at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Saturday in the Championship.
The Blues will be looking to bounce back after a narrow 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough. Chris Davies’s side sit 11th with 21 points and will hope to build on their strong home form.
Norwich arrive in 23rd place with just nine points, having slipped to a 2-1 loss against Leicester last time out. Philippe Clément was appointed during the international break and faces the task of steering the Canaries away from the relegation zone and towards mid-table safety.
The last meeting between the sides ended in a 1-0 win for Birmingham, and both teams will be eager to leave their mark this weekend.
George Revell (Blues Focus): The sold-out home crowd will be well up for Birmingham City’s 150th anniversary fixture against newly appointed Philippe Clement’s Norwich City on Saturday.
Belgian boss Clement will have had just four days to prepare for Norwich’s trip to the Second City and will be up against it given Blues’ electrifying home form.
The 51-year-old watched his Rangers side lose 2-1 in a pre-season friendly from the away dugout at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park 16 months ago - just weeks before Blues began their record-breaking League One campaign. They beat the Scottish giants fair and square that night and are a different beast now - especially at home.
Chris Davies’ side have lost a league game in B9 only once since then and have won their last two there 4-0. Despite luck not being on Blues’ side with injuries, you would still back them to comfortably beat the 23rd-placed Canaries.
Thursday’s unveiling of the new stadium design will bring even more positivity to the atmosphere at St. Andrew’s when Norwich come to town.
