Tom Bischof made an immediate impact in the 2-0 win over Serbia. Florian Wirtz then explains what makes the Bayern youngster so strong.
Tom Bischof made an immediate impression in his first appearance for the German senior national team. In the 2-0 win over Serbia, the 21-year-old not only scored his first international goal but also impressed with his play in the German midfield.
One person who was in a particularly good position to assess his performance was Florian Wirtz. The Liverpool star played alongside Bischof and had high praise for the Bayern youngster after the match: “I really liked his performance. I had a lot of fun playing alongside him. He moves very intelligently into open spaces and is very good on the ball. He’s simply a very good player,” said Wirtz.
Bischof’s movement between the lines was particularly striking time and again against Serbia. The midfielder constantly made himself available, skillfully broke free from tight situations, and also sought out opportunities to push forward himself.
His goal to make it 1-0 was the standout moment of his strong performance. After Wirtz hit the post, Bischof reacted quickest and converted the rebound to give his team the lead.
His chemistry with Aleksandar Pavlovic was also already working surprisingly well. The two Bayern pros provided plenty of movement and control in the center, while Wirtz repeatedly pushed forward into attacking spaces.

With his debut, Bischof has certainly put himself in the running for further appearances under Jürgen Klopp. The fact that Wirtz is now also highlighting his game intelligence and ball control underscores just how quickly the Bayern youngster has settled into the DFB team.
