Blackburn boss Mowbray gives update on striker’s injury and explains absences in Carabao Cup defeat | OneFootball

Tony Mowbray fears Yuki Ohashi may have suffered a hamstring injury during Blackburn Rovers’ 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield United.

The Japanese forward was forced off early in the defeat, adding to Blackburn’s growing injury problems in attack.

“He’ll get scanned and we’ll find out,” Mowbray said afterwards.

“Hopefully, he’s not so bad. But obviously disappointing because generally he’s very, very robust.”

Blackburn had already lost another forward, Mathias Jorgensen, to a hamstring injury, leaving Mowbray with limited options in attack.

“We’ve already lost Jorgensen, a front player, through a hamstring injury and now Ohashi looks like it could be a hamstring,” Mowbray added.

“It was important I didn’t put another striker on the pitch, so we played the game without strikers really because we’ve only generally got one left.

“It’s fine, it’s football, we’ll be okay and hopefully if we get three points on Saturday against Queens Park Rangers, everything will be happy and smiley again.”

Mowbray also provided updates on three players who were absent from the Blackburn squad.

“Ribeiro is injured, he was just unavailable basically,” Mowbray said.

“I think Pratt is close to securing a loan deal.

“I think there’s a potential transfer with Axel (Henriksson) so let’s wait and see. You’ll find out over the next few days, as I will find out over the next few days, I would suggest.”
