Boca have lodged a bid for Estudiantes winger Edwuin Cetré and there is optimism over completing a deal. The push continues as Claudio Úbeda’s side prepare to visit Vélez at José Amalfitani on Sunday in the fourth round of the Torneo Apertura 2026.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca have sent a formal offer to buy 50 percent of Cetré’s rights from Estudiantes, with the other half held by Independiente Medellín of Colombia.
Sporting director Marcelo Delgado has tabled a proposal worth around four million dollars for Estudiantes’ stake while also negotiating with DIM for an additional portion.
The club believe their bid tops Athletico Paranaense’s. Estudiantes have an urgent need to sell, and cordial relations between the clubs could aid talks.
This window has already brought in Ángel Romero and Santiago Ascacíbar, and was extended after Rodrigo Battaglia’s injury. Boca currently have seven players in rehabilitation.
Boca can pursue Cetré because Williams Alarcón has obtained Argentine citizenship. Miguel Merentiel secured the same earlier and does not take a foreign slot, while Fabra and Advíncula had completed the process before leaving.
In the squad, the foreign contingent comprises Edinson Cavani, Ander Herrera, Carlos Palacios and Ángel Romero. If Cetré signs it would be five, with Marcelo Saracchi due to return mid-year.
