Boca have made a formal approach to Estudiantes for winger Cetré, with discussions moving on from an initial enquiry.
According to SuperDepor.com, both clubs are open to talks, though no official offer has been lodged.
Boca are urgently seeking a wide player after a spate of injuries and Brian Aguirre’s recent loan exit to Estudiantes. The Colombian became their alternative after his proposed move to Athletico Paranaense fell through.
Early contact in La Plata outlined a price of three to four million dollars for 50% of Cetré’s rights, with the remainder owned by Independiente de Medellín. Estudiantes are not forced to sell, but would negotiate if those terms are met.
Relations between the clubs are positive, helped by Santiago Ascacíbar’s sale to Boca and Aguirre’s loan, with Juan Román Riquelme and Sebastián Verón in direct dialogue. River were linked with the 28-year-old, but did not pursue a deal.
Boca are working against the clock, with Friday 13 February the deadline to register an injury replacement for Rodrigo Battaglia. A formal bid for 50% of Cetré’s registration could arrive at Estudiantes’ UNO offices in the coming hours.
