Boca Juniors are pushing to sign Argentinos Juniors midfielder Alan Lescano, and could use an exceptional window until 10 March after Lucas Blondel left on loan to Huracán. According to Sitiboca.com.ar, talks have accelerated in recent hours.
Boca are winless in four in the Liga Profesional and hope this move provides a lift. Head coach Claudio Úbeda is under pressure and seeks a positive result against Lanús to remain in post.
Negotiations with Argentinos have intensified, with the club prepared to listen as they focus solely on the domestic competition following their Copa Libertadores exit. Lescano recently extended his deal with the Bicho to 2029.
Argentinos consider him important, yet a sale is viewed as possible given finances. The club own 50 per cent of his rights, with the remainder held by Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, and are looking for between four and five million dollars.
Boca have made an initial approach to both Argentinos and the player’s camp. While no agreement is in place, the chances of a move are considered high, with options including cash plus one or two players on loan and an offer around three and a half million dollars.
There is also renewed noise over a possible return for Sebastián Villa, though he is not minded to leave Independiente de Mendoza this window, which could push any move to mid-year. Boca are chasing a fourth signing, with Lescano seen as a strategic midfield addition.
