Penultimate fixture of the league phase for Pep Guardiola’s side
Manchester City return to Champions League action this week as they take on Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the penultimate fixture of the league phase.
Another break from Premier League action may work in favour of Man City as Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat in the Manchester derby left them seven points behind leaders Arsenal after their winless run in the league stretched to four games.
In fact, City’s only victories in 2026 so far have come in the cup competitions, thrashing Exeter 10-1 in the FA Cup third round before beating Newcastle in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Norway in the knowledge that victory will boost their chances of a top-eight finish and thus avoiding two extra games next month.
Bodo/Glimt, meanwhile, are on the brink of elimination from Europe altogether as they must win and hope results from elsewhere go in their favour.
Bodo/Glimt vs Man City is scheduled for a 5.45pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
The match will take place at the Aspmyra Stadion in Bodo, Norway.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports. Coverage starts at 5pm GMT on TNT Sports 2 ahead of kick-off at 5.45pm.
Live stream: TNT Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Discovery+ app and website.
Bodo/Glimt have not played a competitive fixture since their 2-2 Champions League draw against Borussia Dortmund on December 10.
Left-back Isak Dybvik Maatta limped off late on during the game, but has since returned to action by featuring in both friendly matches against Groningen and DVTK.
As for Man City, Guardiola has already named a 21-man squad for the showdown in Norway and the big news is Phil Foden is fit enough to travel amid fears he suffered a broken hand in the derby loss to Manchester United.
Matheus Nunes, who missed the game at Old Trafford through illness, has not been named in the squad along with the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Nico Gonzalez and Josko Gvardiol.
Marc Guehi’s transfer from Crystal Palace has been confirmed and his arrival will help to alleviate Guardiola’s defensive injury headaches, but he will not be involved in Norway.
January signing Antoine Semenyo is not eligible to feature in the Champions League as he cannot be registered until the knockout phase, should Man City progress.
His place in the squad is taken by a returning Omar Marmoush who has been away for a month at the Africa Cup of Nations, finishing fourth with Egypt.

Man City continue to blow hot and cold. While they put TEN goals past Exeter and impressed in spells against Newcastle, they have looked vulnerable defensively and were lucky to only concede twice in the Manchester derby.
Bodo/Glimt did pose Tottenham problems in the league phase meeting earlier in the campaign, but are yet to win at home in the Champions League as they’ve struggled to adjust to the step up in quality.
We think City will have too much for the Norwegians, claiming a narrow win to boost their hopes of a top-eight finish.
Man City to win, 2-1.
This will be a first-ever meeting between Bodo/Glimt and Man City at any level.
Bodo/Glimt to win: 6/1
Man City to win: 1/3
Draw: 7/2
