That is according to the Daily Mail, via the Daily Record's live transfer blog, (July 9, 9:43am), which states that the Trotters have seen two bids rejected for the player, with the highest offer said to be around the £400,000 mark.

The Greater Manchester outfit have started preparations for their new League One season as they try to go one better than their play-off final defeat from last season.

Bolton will likely be considered one of the strongest sides in the division yet again this season, but Ian Evatt will know pressure is on him to achieve that promotion, and therefore, it appears as though he is keen to bolster his ranks.

It was reported last week that the club had seen a bid turned down for Peterborough United player Joel Randall, and it now appears as though the same has occurred with Kilmarnock’s Armstrong.

As per the aforementioned report from the Daily Mail, Bolton have seen not one but two bids rejected by Killie wideman Armstrong, who has also featured on either side of the pitch as a wing-back as well as a winger and scored nine times in all competitions in 2023-24.

The England-born 26-year-old has been with the Scottish side since July 2021, after joining the club on a free transfer from Raith Rovers.

Armstrong has entered the final year of his contract at the club, and this report states that manager Derek Adams has made it clear that he wants the player to sign a new contract, but there has been no agreement as of yet.

Given his situation at Kilmarnock, the Trotters have tried their best to lure the player away, with it being reported that the club have had two bids rejected, with their best offer being around the £400,000 mark.

But the Scottish side have said no, as they want to retain the player at all costs, despite his contract situation.

Danny Armstrong’s Kilmarnock 2023-24 season

Last season was Armstrong’s third campaign with Kilmarnock, and it was a season to remember for the attack-minded wing-back/winger.

Armstrong scored six goals and recorded an impressive 10 assists in 38 Scottish Premiership games, making him one of Kilmarnock’s biggest threats during the season in the final third.

The 26-year-old played a further nine games in the cup competitions, and in those appearances, he scored three goals and chipped in with four assists.

That means he has now scored 23 goals and recorded 26 assists in 118 outings for Kilmarnock, and that record has led to transfer interest in his services.

Danny Armstrong would be a good signing for Bolton

Armstrong has spent the majority of his career playing in Scotland, featuring for the likes of Hamilton, Ross County, Raith Rovers, and Kilmarnock.

While he lacks experience in the English game, he has really impressed in Scotland, and therefore, it is no surprise that teams are now starting to take notice.

The diminutive Armstrong was very impressive last season north of the border, and with his contract situation being what it is, Bolton are obviously trying to get the player while they can.

Armstrong would be a very smart addition for the Trotters, as he would bring goals and creativity from the wide area, and if Ian Evatt is planning on sticking with his wing-back system, then the 26-year-old could feature on either side as a natural left-sider to compete with Randell Williams, or as an inverted player on the right.
