Sonia Bompastor has revealed Naomi Girma could be sidelined for the next few weeks after missing Chelsea’s emphatic 5-0 win over Manchester United.
Girma was absent from the squad alongside Melvine Malard, who missed the meeting with her former club through injury, and Bompastor confirmed Girma had picked up a minor problem.
“Naomi just picked up a small injury,” Bompastor explained. “She maybe won’t be available for the next weeks. It’s unfortunate, but hopefully she’ll be back soon.”
Chelsea were able to cope comfortably without Girma as goals from Sjoeke Nüsken, Keira Walsh, Lauren James, Ellie Carpenter and Lucy Bronze secured a dominant victory.
“I think in this game, the big difference from last weekend was us being able to convert and to score the goals during our strong moments in the game,” she said.

“I’m also happy we started strong and sustained the intensity throughout the game, which is something we need to do when I’m talking to you about the mentality and the mindset.
“You can’t think it’s enough when you are winning one-nil. Not in this league, against all the teams you are playing against.
“I’m quite happy with the reaction we had from last weekend.”
