Sonia Bompastor hailed Lexi Potter’s influence after Chelsea Women eased to a 3-0 win over West Ham.
Melvine Malard, Keira Walsh and Maika Hamano got the goals for the Blues as they secured a fourth win in five WSL games.
Potter impressed in midfield after coming on in the second half as Chelsea controlled proceedings, particularly after the break, with Bompastor praising the calmness and quality she brings to the team.
“As you could see, when Lexi is playing for our team, she is really good right now,” Bompastor said.
“She brings calmness; she brings quality on the ball. At the level she’s performing right now, she’s a starter for us. There is no doubt about that.
“We controlled the ball more in the second half, and the quality we had on the ball was better as well. With Lexi being on the pitch, it helps a lot.”
Bompastor also highlighted Walsh’s more advanced role and the threat she is offering around the edge of the penalty area.
“Keira is playing a little bit higher than probably last season,” she added.
“It helps us a lot in terms of creating opportunities. We know how good she is when she is at the edge of the box; even if the opposition knows what she’s going to do, her shot is so great that she’s able to score.
“And right now it’s good to have a player who is confident and brings us the solution to scoring goals. That’s really important.”
