Bordeaux may have case sent back to DNCG appeal as wait drags on | OneFootball

Bordeaux could have to wait longer to learn whether they will play in National 1 next season. According to L'Équipe, the CNOSF conciliator would propose returning the case to the DNCG appeal commission due to a new financial picture.

A video hearing was held on Wednesday on the club’s bid to rejoin national competitions. If the FFF executive committee accepts the recommendation, Bordeaux would set out their updated finances before the appeal body.

Since their last appearance on 15 July, ownership has changed. Gérard Lopez transferred his shares on 31 July to Sparta Capital for one euro, waiving his claims and his better-fortune clause. Sparta has injected €10.6 million for 2026-27, cleared arrears and paid continuation-plan instalments.

The deal was backed by four investors, James Bord, Felix Roemer, Evan Sofer and Jeremy Green, founder and portfolio manager of Redmile Group, LLC. The new ownership picture has lifted optimism inside Bordeaux’s hierarchy.

If the comex refuses to follow the CNOSF advice, Bordeaux would drop into Régional 1. Failure to re-enter National 1 would also void the Sparta sale, likely triggering a request to terminate the continuation plan and potentially opening liquidation proceedings at the commercial court.

In that scenario, the Bordeaux association led by Jean-Louis Triaud would be left to cover liabilities linked to the affiliation number, notably €4.5 million from foreign transfers and €500,000 in training compensation. New funding could still emerge, including from a collective of entrepreneurs and former players announced on Wednesday.
