Borussia Dortmund have moved swiftly to appoint a new sporting director after parting company with Sebastian Kehl on Sunday.
Nils-Ole Book, 40, has been officially confirmed as the club’s new sporting director on Monday.
Book joins from a similar role at 2. Bundesliga side SV Elversberg and has signed a contract with the Black and Yellows until 2029.
“With Ole Book, we have been able to bring our preferred candidate for the sporting director position to BVB. I have been following his excellent work at Elversberg, first as sporting director and most recently as sporting executive, for a long time and am absolutely convinced that Ole is a very good fit for us both professionally and personally,” explained Borussia Dortmund managing director for sport Lars Ricken.
Ole Book said he is excited to begin his work at the club.
“Borussia Dortmund is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I am very excited to fully commit myself to it,” stated Book.
“I want to play my part in ensuring that BVB moves towards a successful future, and I am looking forward to contributing my ideas and convictions while working with a strong team. Borussia Dortmund is a special club for me, with an emotional connection since childhood. Not least for that reason, I would like to thank SV Elversberg, especially [club president] Dominik Holzer, for allowing me to start my work in Dortmund immediately.”
