Celta Vigo boss Claudio Giraldez has spoken with Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic and the Spanish club are pushing to secure his signature.
Liverpool signed the 21-year-old defensive midfielder in 2021 from Celta Vigo and his former club’s academy director, Alex Otero, compared him to former Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets.
Bajcetic turned some heads in Liverpool’s youth set-up and earned his senior team debut in Liverpool’s 9-0 victory over Bournemouth in 2022.

There was a great buzz around Bajcetic, but a calf injury saw him miss the majority of the 2023/24 campaign.
The Spaniard was then sent out on two different loan spells, Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas, to aid his development, but he failed to impress.
Bajcetic has entered the final year of his contract with Liverpool and so far he has only managed make 22 outings for the senior side.

Several Spanish outfits have shown interest in taking Bajcetic back to La Liga and helping him reignite his career and it was suggested in July that he was negotiating a departure from Anfield.
His former club, Celta Vigo have emerged as an option for the midfielder and according to Spanish journalist Diego Otero, Giraldez ‘has already spoken’ with Bajcetic about the project and plans that await him in Vigo.
Now Celta Vigo are continuing to push to try and get the deal done, while they are keen for medical checks to happen soon too.
It has been suggested that Spain is the preferred destination for Bajcetic and he will want to secure a move as soon as possible with fewer than ten days remaining in the window.

Bajcetic underwent surgery last season after he suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Las Palmas and he is currently recovering from it.
It has been suggested that Celta Vigo are waiting to receive a green signal from the medical team regarding Bajcetic’s recovery status before they start negotiations with Liverpool.
Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano and Getafe, who consider the Liverpool star just an option, have also been linked with Bajcetic this summer.
With Liverpool having now sold Curtis Jones to Inter Milan, Bajcetic could potentially have had an opportunity, under a a Spanish boss, to get back on track at Anfield.
