Bournemouth U18s 1 Brentford U18s 3: Kasujja and Madden on target in away win | OneFootball

Brentford Under-18s beat Bournemouth Under-18s 3-1 on the road in the U18s Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Bournemouth opened the scoring early on through Leyland Waite, but the west Londoners reacted well with goals from Jovan Kasujja, Coran Madden and an own goal to earn a deserved victory.

The Bees created a great chance following a flowing move in the second minute with Enrique Roca releasing Madden down the left. His cross found the opposite winger, Dwayne Mason, at the back post but he missed the target under pressure and on the stretch.

Kasujja then did well to fashion himself a sight at goal after a clever touch in the box allowed him to get a deflected strike off that Adam Brogan held on to at the second attempt.

Gary McDermott's side were much the brighter of the two in the opening ten minutes; this time Jai Bansoodeb feinted past two Cherries defenders before forcing Brogan to save with his feet from a driven effort.

Tom Stuckey had Bournemouth's first sight at goal as they grew into the game, nodding wide from a floated free-kick when he could have headed back across goal to those waiting in red and black.

Then, on 17 minutes, the home side took the lead with skipper Waite striking across Felix Lyon into the bottom right corner.

The west Londoners responded well and had an equaliser on the half-hour mark. Bansoodeb's first-time pass found Kasujja inside the box, with his touch taking it away from the sliding Zach Sutton, who brought him down. The striker picked up the ball and buried his spot kick into the bottom-left corner to level the game at 1-1.

The Bees finished the half the stronger side with Bansoodeb, Mason and Madden all creating chances aplenty, but McDermott's side lacked the killer blow.

Roca, who was brilliant linking play for Brentford in the first 45, was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a curling effort from the edge of the box in the 43rd minute, and the sides went into the break even.

If Brentford weren't clinical enough at the end of the first period, they certainly were at the start of the second. Within two minutes of the restart, Nate Ogungbemi's quick throw-in caught Bournemouth asleep, and Madden tucked his finish inside the far post to make it 2-1.

Brentford had stepped it up a gear, with Chris Cohalan bending an effort off the bar minutes after they had taken the lead.

On 55 minutes, the west Londoners had a deserved two-goal advantage. After a clever dummy run from Bansoodeb from a free-kick, he drilled the ball across the six-yard box, forcing an own goal, with the team running across to the bench to celebrate with goalkeeper coach Daniel Hill.

McDermott's side were hungry for more; on 60 minutes Madden had a header saved by Brogan after good wing play from Mason, beating his man then clipping a cross into the middle.

Madden looked to return the favour five minutes later, fizzing across a beautiful ball which Mason narrowly missed at the back post with Aidan Guanchez sliding in to distract him.

Kasujja then had a chance for his second of the game after Bansoodeb fed him inside the box, but he took too long to get his strike off as Sutton recovered.

Ogungbemi did well to clear the ball off the line after a free-kick was headed back across the Brentford goal to keep the lead intact, before Kasujja had an improvised acrobatic effort go narrowly over.

The young Bees were in full flow and almost scored a superb team goal with five to play when captain Micaiah Fanoiki rattled the post after cutting in from the left.

Lyon had to bail Dylan Danso out on 88 minutes; the centre-half lost the ball trying to be too intricate and the Bees' keeper stood his ground excellently to get a hand on the ball as Joe Spence tried to go round him.

The game ended 3-1, reflective of a great performance from McDermott's side, who reacted brilliantly to going behind and could've scored more.

They now look ahead to hosting Ipswich Town Under-18s on Saturday 19 September at Wheatsheaf Park (12pm kick-off BST).
