Brazilian photojournalists had equipment damaged after Corinthians drew 1-1 away to Estudiantes in Argentina. According to Meu Timao, objects were thrown and racist insults were directed at them after the final whistle.
Castro opened the scoring after three minutes, then Kaio César equalised in the second half to leave the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-final level.
It was a spiky contest, with seven yellow cards shown, three to the hosts and four to Timão, and 34 fouls in total.
Luis Pacca was among those targeted at pitchside at the Jorge Luis Hirschi, where an object hit his laptop and partially destroyed the screen.
Wanderson Oliveira, working at Estudiantes’ ground, also sustained equipment damage. Amid the disorder, Corinthians supporters remained in the stadium until the La Plata crowd had dispersed.
The tie will be decided next Wednesday at 21:30 at Neo Química Arena. Corinthians visit Flamengo on Sunday at 17:30 in the Maracanã in the Brasileirão.
