Bristol City have this afternoon announced the appointment of Michael Skubala as their new first-team manager, following Gerhard Struber’s departure at the end of March and a brief interim period from Roy Hodgson.

Skubala will depart Lincoln City after a little less than three years at the club, where he guided them to the League One title this past season, amassing 103 points along the way. Throughout his 140 games with The Imps, the 43-year-old picked up a healthy 71 wins, as well as 32 draws, meaning he only oversaw 37 losses.

The Robins’ search for a new manager has been an interesting one in recent weeks, even days. It looked all but certain that Bournemouth’s assistant manager, Tommy Elphick, was going to join the club only for the deal to fall apart late on, leaving City to pivot to Skubala.

The Englishman has penned a three-year deal at Ashton Gate, and his first piece of business will be deciding the future of out-of-contract players Sam Bell, Harry Cornick, Sam Morsy and Mark Sykes.
