Vasco are close to clearing the treatment room for the run-in after Mateus Carvalho’s return, with Brenner now transitioning from a left foot ligament injury.
According to Globo.com, Brenner, 26, is expected to rejoin full training by mid October. He was hurt against Bahia in August, left at half-time, and scans showed ligament damage but no fracture.
He is the final significant case in Vasco’s medical department in 2026. Jair returned in August from a serious right knee ligament injury, and Mateus Carvalho came back on Monday after nine months out from a left ACL rupture.
Brenner chose conservative treatment rather than surgery to avoid writing off the season. Surgery might have sidelined him for up to four months.
Inside the club his comeback is seen as crucial after the FIFA break. Sporting director Admar Lopes ended talks for Richarlison of Tottenham, noted many free agents are veterans inactive since May, and said the coach is content with current attackers, calling Brenner the main attacking boost.
The injury came just as Brenner had earned a spot under Pedro Emanuel. He had alternated starts with Spinelli but underlined his case with two goals in the 3-1 win over Fluminense in the Copa do Brasil last 16.
Since his lay-off, Vasco have signed Colidio and Bruno Duarte. The Argentine is already a starter with four goal involvements in eight matches, while Bruno Duarte has two goals and one assist.
