righton are set to beat Fulham to the signing of Fiorentina defender Igor.

The 25-year-old is close to agreeing personal terms with the Seagulls before direct talks take place between the two clubs over a fee.

Fulham received encouragement when pursuing the Brazilian centre-back but saw a £7million bid rejected last week.

Brighton have since swooped in for the defender who Fiorentina value at around £20m. They are now the favoured option given their Europa League status.

Fulham have an alternative target in Benfica’s Morato but saw an opening £8.6m bid last week rejected.

The Portuguese giants are reluctant to sell Morato unless they receive a substantially higher offer.

Marco Silva wants to sign a defender this summer with Tosin Adarabioyo expected to leave, amid interest from Tottenham, Monaco and Rennes.
