He is currently sidelined with an ankle injury sustained in Vienna during pre-season.

Sporting director Mike Cave said the club saw him grow as a player and a person, and that coaches and staff helped him develop into an outstanding Premier League midfielder. He added that Baleba wanted this opportunity at this stage of his career, and the club thanked him for his contribution.

Baleba said joining the club of his dreams felt incredible and that playing at Old Trafford is always special, adding that doing so as a United player will be an honour. He said he cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick, whose experience and knowledge he believes can help him reach the highest level.

The 21-year-old Cameroon international joined Albion from Lille in summer 2023 and made 112 appearances, scoring four. United had pursued him last summer but chairman Tony Bloom had no intention of selling at that stage.
