Carlos Baleba joins Manchester United from Brighton in €80 million deal | OneFootball

Carlos Baleba has signed for Manchester United from Brighton for around €80 million, the move confirmed on Tuesday.

According to L'Équipe, the 22-year-old Cameroon international with 16 caps passed his medical in the north of England on Sunday. The midfielder came through the Écoles de Football des Brasseries du Cameroun and Lille before impressing at Brighton.

United and Michael Carrick have already added Andrey Santos from Chelsea for €56 million and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for €41 million. Baleba is their third midfield recruit, taking the spend on that area to €177 million.

Long courted by the Red Devils, Baleba will link up with compatriot and international team-mate Bryan Mbeumo and become the fourth Cameroonian in the club’s history.

He previously made 21 appearances for Lille in Ligue 1 and featured 112 times for Brighton in all competitions. In Manchester he will make his Champions League debut as the Red Devils return to the competition after two years away.
