Başakşehir beat Göztepe 2-1 at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu on Saturday to rise from sixth to fifth in the Süper Lig, with substitute Ivan Brnic netting the decisive goal.

Ömer Ali Sahiner opened the scoring in the 13th minute, sliding a through ball from Abbosbek Fayzullayev into the top left.

Earlier, Christopher Operi was forced off injured (35.), then Alexis Antunes levelled with a fine strike from outside the box (39.), created by Ogün Bayrak.

Half-time change Brnic replaced Fayzullayev and fired the winner into the top right from the left side of the area (69.), after good work by Yusuf Sari.

Goalkeeper Muhammed Sengezer made seven saves to keep the hosts in front. Göztepe produced 23 attempts, with Juan repeatedly denied.

Başakşehir controlled phases of the game with 55.2% possession and seven attempts. The visitors hit nine on target during sustained pressure around the interval.
