Bruno Genesio has agreed a two-year deal with Marseille. According to L'Équipe, the agreement was reached a few days ago after several weeks of uncertainty.

Talks were advanced in early June, yet doubts lingered as July approached without an official announcement. Complicated hearings before UEFA and the DNCG added to the concerns, with a potential UEFA sanction among the sticking points.

On 17 June UEFA did not exclude OM from the Europa League, issuing a €10m fine and requiring a positive balance by the end of the transfer window instead. That removed one hurdle, leaving a final contractual detail to resolve with Genesio.

The former Lille coach is due to bring assistants Jérémie Bréchet and Dimitri Farbos, goalkeeping coach Nicolas Dehon, and performance lead Thomas Choinard, whom he worked with at Stade Rennais.

The termination of Habib Beye’s contract, after his arrival in February and agreement running to June 2027, has been initiated. It is not yet concluded, but the club is not concerned, and Genesio is expected for the squad’s return on six July.
