Bundesliga matchday 25: Kane absent as Bayern win, Bremen surge, Wolfsburg sack coach

Matchday 25 brought statement wins and upheaval. According to Get German Football News, Bayern coped without Kane, Bremen surged, and Wolfsburg swung the axe.
With Harry Kane nursing a minor injury, Bayern beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-1 on Friday. Leon Goretzka set up Luis Diaz on 33 minutes, then Konrad Laimer struck before the break.
Manuel Neuer left at half-time with a calf issue, Jonas Urbig replacing him. After the restart, Rocco Reitz fouled Nicolas Jackson for a penalty that Jamal Musiala converted, Jackson later made it 4-0, then Wael Mohya’s late consolation made it 4-1. Bayern now face Atalanta in the Champions League.
Wolfsburg dismissed head coach Daniel Bauer and managing director of sport Peter Christiansen after a 2-1 loss to Hamburg left them 17th, four points off Mainz 05. Sporting director Pirmin Schwegler said a change was needed, and 61-year-old Dieter Hecking returns a decade after his last spell, most recently coaching VfL Bochum.
Werder Bremen won 4-1 at Union Berlin, their first back-to-back league victories this season. Derrick Köhn’s penalty opened the scoring before Andras Schäfer’s red card, then Olivier Deman, Jens Stage, Marco Grüll and 18-year-old Patrice Čović turned it around.
Borussia Dortmund won 2-1 at FC Köln, and Lars Ricken confirmed Julian Brandt will leave on a free this summer. Elsewhere, Freiburg drew 3-3 with Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim beat Heidenheim 4-2, and St. Pauli and Frankfurt, plus Mainz 05 and Stuttgart, drew.
