The countdown has begun for coach Amir Abdou. After being appointed on February 28, 2026 as the head coach of the Burkina Faso national team, he arrived in Ouagadougou on the night of Monday, March 2.

The new coach was greeted upon disembarking by a delegation from the Burkinabè Football Federation. The organization announced that the French-Comorian coach will be officially received on March 3 by the Federation President to finalize the signing of his contract.

Amir Abdou was selected as the new Stallions boss from a pool of 82 candidates in a process that lasted nearly a month. He succeeds Brama Traoré, who was dismissed following the team's elimination in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
