Burnley defender Richards signs new deal | OneFootball

Burnley defender Jade Richards has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The Clarettes announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website earlier today.

The centre-back joined Burnley in summer 2024 after leaving former Barclays WSL2 club Blackburn Rovers. Richards has performed strongly in her two seasons with The Clarettes and she helped the club win the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division last term.

Richards is experienced in the second tier following her spells with Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers and she will now hope to help Burnley to establish themselves in the elite game.

After signing on again with Burnley, Richards said “To get promotion last year and to be offered a new contract to stay a part of this team’s journey is great. Last season was a rollercoaster, but we crossed the line and met the target that we set at the start of the year.

“It [BWSL2] gets stronger and stronger each year, so we’ve got to be ready and make sure our pre-season preparation is spot on to be ready to compete.

“It’s nice to be back in the routine and see everyone now. It will be fun to get back into the business of playing football, which we all love to do.”
