Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur meet at Turf Moor with both clubs facing very different pressures in the Premier League. Spurs arrive needing momentum after a difficult domestic run, while Burnley are fighting for survival and looking to build on a recent uptick in performances.
Tottenham’s season has taken an unexpected turn. Under-fire manager Thomas Frank found some respite in a 2-0 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund, but league form remains a serious concern. Spurs had gone four games without a win before that European tie and sit in 14th place, far below expectations.
Burnley, meanwhile, are stuck in the drop zone. Scott Parker is trying to guide his side out of 19th, though an eight-point gap makes that task daunting. Still, recent results suggest there is some life left in the Clarets.

The win over Dortmund did more than just improve Tottenham’s European outlook. It also eased some of the growing tension around the club. Thousands of empty seats at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before that match underlined the level of fan frustration.
Spurs now sit fifth in the Champions League league stage, with qualification for the knockout rounds still within reach. However, the Premier League tells a different story. A solitary league win since beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park has left Frank walking a fine line.
The trip to Turf Moor is therefore crucial. Burnley may be struggling, but they have made life uncomfortable for stronger opponents, and Tottenham’s confidence remains fragile.
Burnley’s league position reflects a tough campaign, but recent performances hint at resilience. Draws against Manchester United and Liverpool stand out, especially when combined with a dominant 5-1 FA Cup victory over Millwall.
Parker knows that moral victories mean little if points do not follow, yet Turf Moor remains a difficult venue for visiting sides. Burnley’s challenge is to turn solid displays into wins, particularly at home, where they need to maximise every opportunity.
Against Tottenham, the Clarets will likely adopt a disciplined approach, focusing on defensive organisation and set pieces. For a team eight points adrift, every match feels like a final.
Tottenham continue to battle a long injury list. Frank was forced to rely heavily on youth in midweek, with seven academy players and two youth prospects on the bench. Djed Spence even filled in as a winger.
Lucas Bergvall was forced off against Dortmund, while Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus remain sidelined with hamstring and quad issues. Joao Palhinha missed out with a knock, and Rodrigo Bentancur is facing a lengthy spell out after hamstring surgery.
Burnley’s problems are hardly lighter. Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer and Josh Cullen are all long-term absentees. Connor Roberts is struggling with an Achilles issue, while Joe Worrall and Zian Flemming are doubts.
This fixture feels finely balanced despite the league table. Burnley’s recent draws show they can compete, while Tottenham are still searching for consistency.
Prediction: Tottenham to win 1-1.
