Lars Ricken, Managing Director of Sports, explains: “We are very pleased that we were able to attract Giannis, a talented offensive player from our ranks whose development we have been following for quite some time. At 23, he is still a relatively young player, but he also brings a wealth of experience to the table. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the officials at PAOK Thessaloniki for the respectful and constructive discussions we’ve had throughout the process of signing Giannis.”

Konstantelias joined PAOK at the age of ten and subsequently came up through the club’s youth system. At 17, the attacking player made his debut for the team. He spent the second half of the 2021–22 season on loan at KAS Eupen in Belgium (seven appearances).

For his home club’s first team, Konstantelias played in 186 competitive matches, scoring 41 goals. With PAOK, he won the Greek league title (2024) and the Greek Cup (2021).

Sporting Director Ole Book emphasizes: “With Giannis, we’re gaining a player who will strengthen our team with his qualities. We see a lot of potential in him and are convinced that he’ll fit very well into the team. I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to our colleagues at FC PAOK for the professional and respectful dialogue throughout the transfer process.”

After playing for the Greek U16, U19, and U21 national teams, Konstantelias made his debut for the senior national team in March 2023, for which he has since appeared 18 times (scoring four goals).

Giannis Konstantelias says: “I’m very excited to play for Borussia Dortmund in the future. BVB is a great club, and I’ll give it my all to be successful here.”
