The Confederation of African Football has announced the nominees for its 2025 awards with star names included.
The governing body awards clubs, countries, and players yearly with Ademola Lookman pipping Achraf Hakimi and Serhou Guirassy to the men's award last year while Zambian striker Barbra Banda was named the top women's player.
Unsurprisingly, new World Cup entrants Cape Verde are among the names nominated for National Team of the Year, which also includes last year's winners Côte d'Ivoire and both Morocco senior and U20 steams after the latter won the U20 World Cup against Argentina last weekend.
Sunderland's Noah Sadiki, Watford's Othmane Maamma, and QPR's Tylon Smith are among the 10 nominees for Men's Young Player of the Year.
Meanwhile André Onana, on loan at Trabzonspor from Manchester United, is shortlisted for Men's Goalkeeper of the Year.
There are three Premier League representatives for Men's Player of the Year, with Mohamed Salah, Iliman Ndiaye, and Pape Matar Sarr competing against Frank Anguissa, Fiston Mayele, Denis Bouanga, Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi, Oussama Lamlaoui, and Victor Osimhen.
The Women's nominees were announced last week with Brighton goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie the only English-based player up for an award as she is nominated for Women's Goalkeeper of the Year.
