Ousmane Camara needed only the opening day to win Castellón hearts again. His early finish sealed a 1-0 victory at Real Sociedad B in Zubieta and the first points of the LaLiga Hypermotion season.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Guinean forward was voted Castellón’s standout in the match, collecting 58% in the readers’ poll. The margin reflected how threatening the number nine looked throughout.

He was on it from the first ball, forcing goalkeeper Fraga into an early save. After six minutes he arrived in the box to turn in Raúl Sánchez’s cross for the opener, which proved decisive and the team’s first goal of the campaign.

Camara kept stretching the defence, fought the centre-backs and tested the home keeper again late on. The club later highlighted his tireless, incisive display in Zubieta.

Pablo Hernández’s side began strongly, then their attacking output dipped, leaving them to protect a narrow lead against the txuri-urdin reserves.

The striker is coming off 12 goals in 37 matches last season, amid summer links to other teams including Real Oviedo. No move materialised, and he has started the new campaign in the most direct way, by scoring.

With competition for attacking places higher this year, Camara begins by maintaining the status he earned last term and the backing of the fanbase.
