Cameron Archer is set to complete a deadline day loan to Ligue 1 side Auxerre, Daily Echo understands.

The French club are managed by former Saints boss Will Still, offering the 24-year-old a potential reunion.

Archer had been linked with several Championship clubs this summer.

He joined Saints from Aston Villa for £15 million in 2024 but has struggled to make a sustained impact on the south coast.

Archer has 11 goals in 77 appearances for the club and was not expected to see consistent minutes under Tonda Eckert this season.

He featured off the bench in the curtain-raising 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Colchester United and has not been used by Eckert since.
