Cameron Bragg capped a whirlwind week at Southampton by signing a new contract until 2027, underlining his rapid rise towards regular first-team involvement.

According to Sainstmarching.com, with Shea Charles sidelined and Oriol Romeu still building readiness, the Scotland Under-21 midfielder has earned earlier opportunities than expected. Bragg said recent weeks have felt hectic, adding it shows how quickly fortunes can shift either way.

Saints supporters have embraced the academy product, who was an unused substitute at Watford before a late cameo at Blackburn Rovers. After travelling from Leicester at short notice amid illness in midfield, he came on with about 10 minutes left at 1-1 and a miskick led to the winner.

He then started away at Charlton Athletic in Tonda Eckert’s third game as interim manager, delivering a composed full debut that surprised many with his range of passing and maturity. The travelling fans showed their appreciation, and Bragg spoke of feeling welcomed and hungry to keep producing.

This season he has made four Championship appearances, including starts at Charlton and at Millwall, and featured twice in the Carabao Cup.

Southampton’s director of group talent strategy, Andy Goldie, praised Bragg’s commitment and professionalism, saying his contract extension reflects his development and that, as a lifelong Saints fan, his recent trajectory has been especially sweet. Goldie expressed confidence the midfielder will continue to seize chances over the next 18 months.

Despite a 2-1 defeat at Norwich City on Saturday, Bragg’s display stood out as a rare positive in a bleak team showing.
