Captain Mikey Moore scores on his England U20 debut against Italy | OneFootball

Mikey Moore wore the captain’s armband in his England U20 debut as his goal helped Darren Moore’s side to a winning start in the U20 Elite League. In the opening fixture of the competition's eighth edition, England beat Italy 3-1 in La Nucia, Spain.

Jesse Derry, who is currently playing for Sporting CP on loan from Chelsea, scored the only goal of the first-half. Moore doubled their advantage inside the first ten minutes after the restart with a one-touch finish.

Airidas Golambeckis’ own-goal halved the deficit for Italy before substitute Shea Lacey sealed the points in the 82nd minute. The winger scored his first senior Manchester United goal last week despite his club’s elimination from the EFL Cup by Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton.

Moore also scored in that competition for Tottenham Hotspur before completing his loan move to Bundesliga in the final hours of the transfer window. The 19-year-old started the last two league games for the Effzeh after his debut assist against Stuttgart.

Friday’s goal means Moore has scored 26 goals in 46 appearances for England youth national teams, starting from the U15 setup. England will face Germany at the same ground in the last fixture of this international break for both sides on October 3rd. Hannes Wolf’s side will start their campaign in the next hour with a game against debutants France.
