Carabao Cup draw: When Sunderland learn their third round opponents | OneFootball

Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland, who enter at the third round after qualifying for the Europa League for the first time, will discover their Carabao Cup opponents this week.

According to Sunderland Echo, the third round draw takes place on Wednesday, August 26 during Sky Sports’ live coverage of Preston North End v Everton.

The winners of this week’s second round ties will join the nine clubs that qualified for European competition as they enter the Carabao Cup at this stage.

Sunderland will be alongside Champions League qualifiers Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool, Europa Conference League qualifiers Brighton and Hove Albion, and fellow Europa League competitors Bournemouth in the draw.

The third round is not regionalised, so the North and South split is removed.

Second round fixtures are staged across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, including Nottingham Forest v Leeds United, Birmingham City v Brentford, Newcastle United v West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspur v Charlton Athletic. Chelsea v Luton Town and Fulham v AFC Wimbledon round off the action on Thursday.
