Carlos Álvarez, 23, has arrived in Mexico City as América’s latest recruit from Levante UD, for around six million dollars.
According to Americayya.net, he is in for medical and physical tests today, then to sign a contract said to be three years. He has already posed in club colours.
The move is widely viewed as an excellent addition, with the young talent previously courted by several Spanish clubs. América acted as Spain’s window approached its deadline to secure the player.
Head coach Guillermo Almada is demanding on fitness, and typically waits until players are at 100 percent before using them. Óscar Perea followed that route, and Miguel Borja has yet to debut.
So it is normal to expect Álvarez’s debut toward the end of the month against Necaxa. If he arrives in good shape, he could be on the bench for Chivas on Saturday 19 September.
