Valencia face Levante in the derby amid a fraught run, and could slide into the relegation places if they lose and Rayo Vallecano take points.
According to Superdeporte, Carlos Corberán’s position is under heavy scrutiny from supporters, though there is no such debate inside the club or the dressing room.
After the defeat to Real Madrid, Arnaut Danjuma backed his head coach, saying he holds one-to-one talks with him, sees a clear desire to help Valencia and has strong personal trust in him.
Asked about those remarks before the derby, Corberán welcomed the support, stressed that internal messages are positive and added that he demands the maximum while giving everything available.
He insisted he has the energy to change the course. He said the staff care for the club’s best interests and work with such passion that sleepless nights can follow, and that players must feel the staff give their all because the same is asked of them.
Danjuma will miss the derby with a minor psoas problem sustained this week. Corberán said neither his issue nor Thierry’s is serious, with medical advice for Danjuma not to compete and Thierry held back as a precaution due to oedema around the previous injury. He said the match will be approached at full tilt with those available.
