Carlos Corberán said Valencia could seek a right-back after injuries to Dimitri Foulquier and Thierry Rendall, speaking before the Levante UD derby in matchweek 24.
He explained Foulquier will be out for more than four months, which allows the club to deregister him and bring in a free agent, with Argentine Renzo Saravia among the options available.
Corberán added that any move would depend on the profiles currently on the market, and with the windows closed only unattached players can join at this stage.
On squad building, he said the minimum is to have two players for each position, and that versatility helps in periods of difficulty and injuries.
He highlighted an unusual shortage at right-back, with three players unavailable at once, Foulquier after surgery, Titi, and B-team defender Rubén Iranzo with a knee problem, which he described as a coincidence.
Corberán concluded that assembling a squad always involves a degree of risk, and complementary profiles are needed around the core options.
