Carlos Corberán made a brief visit to Valencia’s Paterna training base in the morning to say his goodbyes after 629 days at the club.
According to Superdeporte, he arrived just after nine in the morning at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna by car, with Ron Gourlay and Javier Solís also present. Players filtered in for a session overseen by interim coach Óscar Sánchez.
Corberán was able to say farewell in person to those on site, something he could not do on Sunday when the news first broke. The whole visit, arrival to departure, took roughly half an hour.
Few can claim to have led their hometown club in 72 matches at elite level.
On Sunday afternoon he published a letter thanking supporters, with a nod to Meriton. He also praised the entire squad and all club employees for their effort, professionalism and daily work, their desire to improve and to defend Valencia’s crest, and he recognised the often unseen staff whose contribution underpins everything.
